Surftape® conforms to the standards IEC 60286-3, EIA/IS-747, EIA 481, and JIS C 0806. In Surftape ® the fixed positioning of the components is secured through sticky tapes. Therefore the standardized compartment sizes Ao x Bo can be used for a wide spectrum of component sizes. 1. W1 is determined from the component specifications (dimension B and surface terrain) to achieve:

2. Surftape is available in standard nominal thickness dimensions 'T' of 0.45, 0.65, 0.85, and 1.0 mm. However, check drawings for available thickness of each tape type. To prevent component contact with adjacent layers when spooled, Surftape thickness 'T' should be >= 1.1 x component thickness.
3. Punched plastic conductive carrier materials are modified forms of polystyrene or ABS/polyethylene combined with carbon black to effect surface and volume conductivity of 10E4 to 10E6 ohms per square. Halogen content does not exceed 0.3 ppm.
4. Surftape widths of 32mm and 44mm contain a second set of sprocket drive holes, not shown on the drawing above. The location, dimensions, tolerances of these holes conform to the requirements of IEC 60286-3, EIA 481-3, and JIS C 0806 for 32mm and 44 mm carrier tapes.
5. The cumulative tolerance for 10 consecutive sprocket hole pitches (40mm) is ±0.2 mm.
